Interaction between Alcohol and Retopyrin 250 Mg Syrup
Consumption of alcohol and Retopyrin 250 Mg Syrup together may have severe effects on your health.
You should take the minimum effective dose of Retopyrin that reduces body pain and fever. It should be used for the shortest time period till you get relief. Take it as per doctor's advice do not exceed dosage. Ideally, 1 or 2 tablets (500 mg) every four to six hours can be safely taken, do not take more than four doses in 24 hours. Please note paracetamol 500 mg tablet should not be given to children below 10 years until and unless prescribed by a child specialist.
An overdose occurs when more than the required amount (toxic levels) of [medicine] is taken. Initial symptoms of Retopyrin overdose includes loss of appetite, drowsiness, seizures, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Later progressive symptoms may include pain in your upper stomach, dark colored urine, yellowing of your skin or the white patches in your eyes, liver damage and in rare cases, it can also lead to coma. So, by any chance, if you have accidentally taken more than the required dose of Retopyrin inform your doctor immediately.
Retopyrin is being used by pregnant women for many years without any evident harmful effects on the baby. That's why it is usually recommended as the first-line painkiller for pregnant women. But it is not possible to say that this medicine is completely safe to use in pregnancy. You are highly recommended to check with your doctor/gynaecologist before taking any medicine even [medicine] during pregnancy.
Retopyrin is a safe drug no much precautions are to be taken. However, alcohol should be completely avoided. If you have any previous history of kidney and liver diseases keep your doctor informed before taking this drug.
As we know Retopyrin is most widely used 'over-the-counter' analgesic/antipyretic medicine. However, paracetamol overdose can cause serious adverse effects on the liver, it may be fatal. But fortunately, there is an antidote, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) given within 8 hours of Retopyrin ingestion which usually can prevent all serious side effects of Retopyrin poisoning. However, do not take NAC without consulting a doctor as your doctor will tell you the right way and methods to help you relieve from this drug poisoning.
