Interaction between Alcohol and Meprocin 500 Tablet
Consumption of alcohol and Meprocin 500 Tablet together may have severe effects on your health.
Meprocin is primarily used to reduce pain and fever. It can a for other conditions such as a headache, muscle aches, backache, toothaches, and colds.
An overdose occurs when more than the required amount (toxic levels) of [medicine] is taken. Initial symptoms of Meprocin overdose includes loss of appetite, drowsiness, seizures, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Later progressive symptoms may include pain in your upper stomach, dark colored urine, yellowing of your skin or the white patches in your eyes, liver damage and in rare cases, it can also lead to coma. So, by any chance, if you have accidentally taken more than the required dose of Meprocin inform your doctor immediately.
You should take the minimum effective dose of Meprocin that reduces body pain and fever. It should be used for the shortest time period till you get relief. Take it as per doctor's advice do not exceed dosage. Ideally, 1 or 2 tablets (500 mg) every four to six hours can be safely taken, do not take more than four doses in 24 hours. Please note paracetamol 500 mg tablet should not be given to children below 10 years until and unless prescribed by a child specialist.
As we know Meprocin is most widely used 'over-the-counter' analgesic/antipyretic medicine. However, paracetamol overdose can cause serious adverse effects on the liver, it may be fatal. But fortunately, there is an antidote, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) given within 8 hours of Meprocin ingestion which usually can prevent all serious side effects of Meprocin poisoning. However, do not take NAC without consulting a doctor as your doctor will tell you the right way and methods to help you relieve from this drug poisoning.
Meprocin is primarily not used to treat a common cold and sore throat. It can only relieve cold-related symptoms such as a fever, headache, earache, and aching joints. It doesn't help in relieving cough or stuffy nose.
