If you are suffering from any of the following diseases, you should not take Homisure unless your doctor advises you to do so -
Long-term use of Homisure in doses 800 to 1200 micrograms can increase the risk of heart diseases, lung, and prostate cancer.
Homisure is a brand name of folic acid which is a water-soluble form of vitamin B9. The natural form is known as folate while folic acid is the synthetic form. It is a prescription drug which is given for the treatment of folic acid deficiency. It is also given in pregnancy to prevent birth defects (neural tube defects) in the fetus.
Homisure can be safely taken through the oral route or injectible. The drug is safe when taken in doses less than 1000 micrograms per day. You are advised to take Homisure as per your doctor's instructions. Do not take it in more than the prescribed doses.
Homisure should not be discontinued on your own. Your doctor may want to check your recent levels of folic acid with the help of blood tests. If the reports are satisfactory then your doctor will ask you to discontinue Homisure.
