Folydol M is a brand name of folic acid which is a water-soluble form of vitamin B9. The natural form is known as folate while folic acid is the synthetic form. It is a prescription drug which is given for the treatment of folic acid deficiency. It is also given in pregnancy to prevent birth defects (neural tube defects) in the fetus.
Folydol M is recommended during pregnancy because it is a very essential supplement which prevents the incidences such as neural tube defects in the unborn baby.
Folic acid can be safely taken through the oral route or through an injection. The drug is safe when taken in doses less than 1000 micrograms per day.
