No, Yavir does not affect fertility. Animal studies have shown that Yavir does not impair fertility. Also Yavir induced infertility has not been reported by the patients who are taking Yavir.
Yes, Yavir has been reported to cause diarrhoea and it is a common side effect of this medicine. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medicine. If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea after taking this drug, consult your doctor immediately without any further delay.
Yavir contains acyclovir. It works by preventing the DNA synthesis and replication of the virus. It interferes with DNA polymerase enzyme which is essential for the virus to synthesize DNA that helps in replicating the virus. In this way Yavir ensures eradication of viral infection from the body.
Yes, Yavir might cause hair loss (alopecia) but it occurs very rarely. This problem goes away after discontinuation of this drug. For partial hair loss, you are advised to use hair tonic and discuss with the doctor for best possible treatment to hair loss.
