Yes, Vira may cause anemia as well as thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) but it occurs in a few cases only. It is a rare side effect of this drug. If you are experiencing tiredness or shortness of breath or bleeding then discuss it with your doctor without further delay.
Yes, Vira might cause hair loss (alopecia) but it occurs very rarely. This problem goes away after discontinuation of this drug. For partial hair loss, you are advised to use hair tonic and discuss with the doctor for best possible treatment to hair loss.
No, Vira does not prevent chickenpox. Clinical studies suggest that Vira alone cannot prevent chickenpox caused by varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in immunocompromised patients (weak immune system) but Vira can successfully treat chickenpox with the combination of other antiviral drugs.
No, Vira does not prevent the transmission of herpes simplex virus type-2 (HSV-2) in patients who are immunocompromised (weak immune system). Clinical studies have shown that it is not effective in preventing the transmission of herpes. Hence, you are recommended to use barrier methods such as a condom during intercourse to prevent the transmission of herpes.
No, Vira does not affect blood sugar levels. It has not been reported to lower the blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).
