        Frequently asked Questions about Xet

        Question almost 6 years ago

Can I discontinue Xet on my own without doctors advice?

Dr. Yogesh Kumar MBBS , General Physician

No, Xet should not be discontinued without doctors advice because sudden discontinuation of this drug can result in unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. You are recommended to always consult a doctor before discontinuing this medicine.

        Question almost 6 years ago

        How does Xet work?

Dr. Abhijit MBBS , General Physician

Xet contains paroxetine which belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) that works by inhibiting the reuptake (reabsorption) of a neurotransmitter (chemical messenger) serotonin which is presumed to be associated with the feeling of well-being and happiness. Low levels of serotonin in our brain cause low mood and depression. Inhibition of reuptake of serotonin by Xet results in its increased concentration in our brain which helps in elevating the mood.
