Yes, Telcure causes hyperkalemia (high amount of potassium in the blood). Therefore, monitoring of blood potassium levels is important during Telcure therapy.
Telcure contains telmisartan which is an antihypertensive drug that works by preventing a chemical (angiotensin II) to bind with a receptor. This causes relaxation of blood vessels, it also prevents the synthesis and release of aldosterone (a hormone whose hyperactivity results in high blood pressure). In this way Telcure decreases the blood pressure.
