Heamwar is a brand name of folic acid which is a water-soluble form of vitamin B9. The natural form is known as folate while folic acid is the synthetic form. It is a prescription drug which is given for the treatment of folic acid deficiency. It is also given in pregnancy to prevent birth defects (neural tube defects) in the fetus.
Some of the natural sources of Folate are green leafy vegetables, fruits, nuts, meat, eggs, yeast, liver, dairy products, beans, peas, seafood, yeast, grains, beef liver, and beef kidney. Many food items are fortified with Folic acid. Folic acid is required for the synthesis of genetic material and red blood cells. Its deficiency can cause megaloblastic anemia. It is also essential for pregnant women before and during the pregnancy. Deficiency of Folic acid during pregnancy can result in premature delivery and babies with the neural tube defects.
Folate is required by the human body for the synthesis, repair, and methylation of DNA. It also acts as a cofactor for various biological processes. Folate plays an important role during cell division and is required during infancy and pregnancy. Folate is required for the synthesis of healthy red blood cells. Deficiency of folate can affect all these roles and can cause anemia thus Heamwar fulfills this deficiency and prevents from anemia.
