Dr. R.K Singh MBBS , Diabetology

Yes, Lobate is safe to use, if applied in prescribed amount and duration as advised by the doctor. Question over 5 years ago

Can Lobate be used for ringworm?

Dr. B. K. Agrawal MBBS, MD , Cardiology, General Physician, Internal Medicine

No, Lobate alone should not be used for ringworm because it is a fungal infection of the skin caused by fungi such as Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum and Lobate is not an antifungal agent and it is not effective against fungi. Hence Lobate should not be used for the treatment of ringworm. For the treatment of ringworm, you can use a combination of Lobate and antifungal drugs such as miconazole and fluconazole.

    Question about 6 years ago

    How does Lobate work?

Dr. Haleema Yezdani MBBS , General Physician

Lobate contains clobetasol which is presumed to work by promoting the induction of inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) in the body. Lipocortins prevents the release of arachidonic acid which causes synthesis and release of certain chemicals such as histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins that causes inflammation. In this way Lobate prevents the skin inflammation which provides relief to the patient from rash, itching, and redness.

    Question over 5 years ago

    Does Lobate lighten skin?

Dr. Vedprakash Verma MBBS, MD , Cardiology

Yes, Lobate might lighten skin because it causes skin atrophy (skin thinning) which reduces the darkness of the skin. However, Lobate is not approved for skin lightening and should not be used for this purpose because it can cause unpleasant side effects.
