It is a prescription drug used for the treatment of skin diseases such as corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, scalp psoriasis, and plaque psoriasis.
Dermovate contains clobetasol which is presumed to work by promoting the induction of inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) in the body. Lipocortins prevents the release of arachidonic acid which causes synthesis and release of certain chemicals such as histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins that causes inflammation. In this way Dermovate prevents the skin inflammation which provides relief to the patient from rash, itching, and redness.
