Megamac is a prescription medicine that is available as a Suspension, Tablet. Ear Infection, Tonsillitis, Pneumonia are some of its major therapeutic uses. Megamac also has some secondary and off-label uses. These are listed below.
Medical history of the patient along with age and gender determines the dosage of Megamac. Individual symptoms and route of administration also determines the right dosage. This information has been provided in detail in the dosage section.
Common side effects of Megamac include Nausea or vomiting, Diarrhoea, Headache. While these are the most often observed Megamac side effects, there are can be others also. These have been listed below. Such side effects of Megamac normally do not last long and go away once the treatment is completed. Please speak with your doctor if these side effects worsen or persist for a longer duration.

Interaction between Food and Megamac
Taking Megamac with food is safe.
Interaction between Alcohol and Megamac
No research has been done on this till date. Therefore, it is not known what the effect of taking Megamac with alcohol will be.
If you are allergic to Megamac then do not take it. If you have already taken it and you are experiencing allergic reactions do not delay inform your doctor immediately.
Megamac is used to treat a number of bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract infection, sexually transmitted disease (STD), pneumonia, bronchitis, ear infection, Lyme disease, Mycobacterium Avium Bacteria Infection, whooping cough, sinuses, skin, throat, and infections of the lungs. It will not work for viral infection and other pathogenic infections such as cold, flu.
No harmful interactions are found between Megamac and alcohol, it does not reduce the effectiveness of the drug. However, alcohol can cause liver damage and dehydration in some people which may increase the severity of side effects, if taken together. So, it is better to avoid taking alcohol with Megamac.
Megamac is not given for the abscess. It is not recommended for skin and soft tissue infection. Generally, a combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulanate is given twice daily. However. it is best to consult your doctor for the right line of treatment for an abscess.
Discontinuing Megamac on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and may cause a relapse of the infection. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor before discounting this drug.
