Mecosar is a prescription drug, available for use as Injection. Megaloblastic Anemia, Diabetic Neuropathy, Peripheral Neuropathy are some of its major therapeutic uses. Secondary and off-label uses of Mecosar have also been mentioned below.

The most common side effects of Mecosar are Gastritis, Rash, Headache. Besides the aforementioned side effects, there are other adverse effects of Mecosar as well, which are listed below. Interaction between Food and Mecosar

Interaction between Alcohol and Mecosar
No research has been done on this till date. Therefore, it is not known what the effect of taking Mecosar with alcohol will be.
The Mecosar can be used for the treatment of subacute herpetic neuralgia (pain that persists for 30 to 120 days following a rash by herpes zoster), glossopharyngeal neuralgia (extreme pain at the back of the tongue, throat or ears) and trigeminal neuralgia (extreme pain caused via trigeminal nerve from face to the brain).
Yes, Mecosar has been found to be effective against tingling and burning sensations in a leg, and spontaneous pain, associated with diabetic neuropathy.
Methylcobalamin is abundantly found in eggs, milk, curd, meat (chicken and fish). However, if your levels are very low you are recommended to take medicines as per doctors instructions.
Mecosar works by forming myelin sheath which is used to cover and protect the nerve cells. Mecosar is used to revive the nerve cells. In the absence of enough Mecosar, myeline sheath doesn't form properly leading to nerve damage.
The Mecosar is susceptible to breaking down in the presence of light and it also gets affected by the moisture. Therefore, it should be consumed as soon as the package is opened and must be protected from the light and moisture.
