HB 4 should not be discontinued on your own. Your doctor may want to check your recent levels of folic acid with the help of blood tests. If the reports are satisfactory then your doctor will ask you to discontinue HB 4.

Some of the natural sources of Folate are green leafy vegetables, fruits, nuts, meat, eggs, yeast, liver, dairy products, beans, peas, seafood, yeast, grains, beef liver, and beef kidney. Many food items are fortified with Folic acid. Folic acid is required for the synthesis of genetic material and red blood cells. Its deficiency can cause megaloblastic anemia. What is HB 4?

HB 4 is a brand name of folic acid which is a water-soluble form of vitamin B9. The natural form is known as folate while folic acid is the synthetic form. It is a prescription drug which is given for the treatment of folic acid deficiency. It is also given in pregnancy to prevent birth defects (neural tube defects) in the fetus.
