On the contrary, oral administration of Candi has been reported to cause stomach upset such as indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhea, and nausea. Candi inhibit the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme lanosterol 14- demethylase and thus block ergosterol synthesis leading to membrane abnormalities in the fungus. It kills the fungus by destroying its cell membrane.
