Flodart- DZ is a brand name of deflazacort. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drugs called steroids (corticosteroid). It is used for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy which is a progressive disease in which the muscles do not function properly in adults and in children 5 years of age and older.

Yes, Flodart- DZ may cause weight gain in some cases. This may be caused due to increased appetite and fluid retention in patients taking this medicine. You are recommended to adopt a healthy lifestyle which includes a balanced diet along with 30 mins of physical workout. However, if you are experiencing unusual weight gain after taking this medicine do inform your doctor right away.

Yes, Flodart- DZ can be taken with paracetamol. No harmful drug interaction has been reported between them. However, if you feel any discomfort do discuss with your doctor.

Flodart- DZ comes as a tablet and a suspension (liquid) and it should be taken by mouth once daily or as advised by your doctor. Precautions must be taken in patients with improper liver or kidney function, hypertension and diabetes. Do no take deflazacort with grapefruit juice (chakotra). Grapefruit juice may increase the blood levels of this medicine which can lead to very unpleasant side effects.
