No, Gertac is not an antacid. It belongs to the group of medicine called H2- receptor blocker which blocks excess acid secretion in the stomach while antacid only neutralizes the stomach acid by coating the stomach.
Taking [medicine] does not directly cause pneumonia. However, in some cases [medicine] may increase the chances of bacteria to grow inside the gut causing bacterial infections such as pneumonia. The bacterial growth in the gut can be caused due to decreased acid secretion in the stomach which allow growth of bacteria in the gut which can move into the lungs through breathing.
