If you are experiencing excessive dryness of skin after applying this drug then you are advised to use a skin moisturizer. No, Tezcort alone should not be used for ringworm because it is a fungal infection of the skin caused by fungi such as Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum and Tezcort is not an antifungal agent and it is not effective against fungi. Hence Tezcort should not be used for the treatment of ringworm. For the treatment of ringworm, you can use a combination of Tezcort and antifungal drugs such as miconazole and fluconazole.
Tezcort contains clobetasol which is presumed to work by promoting the induction of inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) in the body. Lipocortins prevents the release of arachidonic acid which causes synthesis and release of certain chemicals such as histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins that causes inflammation. In this way Tezcort prevents the skin inflammation which provides relief to the patient from rash, itching, and redness.
