Pirazole S is a brand name of esomeprazole. It is a prescription medicine that belongs to the class of drug called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It is mainly used for the treatment of NSAIDs associated peptic ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GRED), Zollinger Ellison syndrome and other acidity related stomach problems. It is also used for the treatment of duodenal ulcer and heartburn.
Pirazole S works by blocking the action of an enzyme (H+/K+ATPase) in the cells (parietal) of the stomach which is responsible for acid production in the stomach. Due to blockage of this enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this helps to relieve the stomach from acidity, heartburn, GERD, stomach ulcer and other acidity related stomach problem.
Research data from animal studies suggest that Pirazole S may cause weight loss but till now sufficient data is not available regarding weight loss in humans. However, if you experience weight loss after taking this medicine, please inform the doctor to follow his/her instructions.
Take Pirazole S as long as needed, but do not take more than 4 weeks. If your symptoms still persist even after 4 weeks then consult your doctor before taking this drug afterward.
