Yes, Ondanz can be taken for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea. Irritable bowel syndrome is a common gastrointestinal disorder affecting a lot of people. It causes gas, abdominal discomfort and changes in the bowel movement like diarrhea or constipation. The disease can be controlled by altering the diet and eating more of fibre and less of fats, alcohol, caffeine and spicy food. Increasing physical activity and reducing stress can also help greatly.

Ondanz is available in form of tablet, syrup, and injection. It should be taken as per your doctor's instructions. Ideally, Ondanz has to be taken with food to avoid stomach upset. The initial dose is usually taken half an hour before chemotherapy, 1 to 2 hours before radiation therapy and 1 hour before a surgery. Additional doses can be suggested by the doctor as per the individual requirements.

Yes, Ondanz is usually administered before and after surgery for treating post-anesthesia shivering (PAS) and nausea. PAS is a condition in which tremors of head, neck, trunk, shoulder, and extremities. It greatly reduces the quality of life of a patient since it causes discomfort and increases pain. It disturbs surgical care and increases the stress on cardiopulmonary functions. Hence as a precautionary measure, this medicine is administered to prevent unpleasant anesthetic effects.
