Yes, Mostika Plus can treat strep. It is used in the treatment of strep throat (pharyngitis) caused by Group A Streptococcus bacteria such as Streptococcus pyogenes. However, it is not generally preferred as a first line drug of choice for the treatment of strep throat.
Yes, Mostika Plus can be used for UTI (urinary tract infection) caused by bacteria Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. However, it is not generally preferred as a first line drug of choice for the treatment of UTI. It is only prescribed in UTI when other drugs are not effective in treating the infection.
Mostika Plus contains moxifloxacin (a broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the class of drugs known as fluoroquinolones). It works by inhibiting enzymes (topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase) in bacteria which prevents the DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination that is essential for the survival of the susceptible organism. In this way Mostika Plus is effective against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria such as Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Moraxella catarrhalis.
No, Mostika Plus does not cover strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is generally found to be resistant to Mostika Plus. Hence other antibiotics which are active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa should be used.
