Linzon is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is active against gram-positive bacteria and certain gram-negative bacteria. It works by preventing the protein synthesis in bacteria which are essential for it. The absence of these vital proteins results in stunned bacterial cell growth due to which bacteria become vulnerable and dies. Linzon is effective against a wide range of gram-positive bacteria and some gram-negative bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus agalactiae, and Enterococcus faecium.
Yes, oral Linzon can be taken with ibuprofen. No clinically significant drug interaction has been reported between them. However, if you feel any discomfort after taking this drug along with ibuprofen then do not hesitate to inform your doctor.
Yes, Linzon may cause anemia, this occurs only in few cases. It is a rare side effect of this drug. It occurs due to bone marrow suppression which might cause anemia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, and thrombocytopenia. However, this effect is reversible in nature and the function of bone marrow is restored after discontinuation of this drug.
The dosage of this drug may vary depending on the type of infection and severity of the infection. Usually, oral Linzon is recommended to be taken twice daily or as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food. Precautions must be taken in patients with phenylketonuria, diabetes mellitus, and improper kidney function.
