Esoper works by blocking the action of an enzyme (H+/K+ATPase) in the cells (parietal) of the stomach which is responsible for acid production in the stomach. Due to blockage of this enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this helps to relieve the stomach from acidity, heartburn, GERD, stomach ulcer and other acidity related stomach problem.
Esoper is a prescription drug so do not take it without consulting doctor. It can be harmful for people to take this medicine without a doctor's advice. If you are taking this drug by yourself then it can be discontinued.
Avoid taking Esoper with levothyroxine because it delays the absorption of levothyroxine and also affects the efficacy of levothyroxine. Please consult with your doctor before consuming these two drugs at the same time.
Esoper is not an antacid. It belongs to the class of drug known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) which reduces the excessive acid in the stomach.
