Interaction between Alcohol and Defungin
You may consume alcohol while taking Defungin. But caution is still important.
This is because a long-term use of Defungin can cause Vitamin B12 deficiency. Stomach acids help in the absorption of Vitamin B 12, and this drug suppresses stomach acid which is required for the absorption of vitamin B12. Hence patients taking [medicine] for a long time have Vitamin B12 deficiency. To replenish Vitamin B12 in your body your doctor prescribes this vitamin along with this medicine.
Yes, Defungin can raise blood sugar in diabetic patients. It raises the blood sugar level by increasing the glucose production in the body and decreasing the effect of insulin which is produced by the pancreas. However, it is best to consult your doctor if you have diabetes while taking Defungin.
Yes, Defungin causes stomach upset. It is a common side effect of this drug but the exact cause behind it is not known. Please inform your doctor if you are experiencing stomach upset after taking this medicine.
