The optimal dosage of Aten D is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. Individual symptoms and route of administration also determines the right dosage. Detailed information has been provided in the dosage section.
Aten D also has some side effects, the most common being Blurred vision, Cold hands. While these are the most often observed Aten D side effects, there are can be others also. These have been listed below. Usually, these side effects of Aten D go away soon, and do not persist beyond the duration of the treatment. Consult your doctor if these side effects become worse or stay for a longer duration.
It is also important to note that Aten D has a Safe effect for pregnant women and Safe effect on lactating mothers. In addition, Aten D's effects on the liver, heart and kidney are discussed below in the Aten D related warnings section.
Aten D is not recommended if you suffer from certain medical conditions as it can have adverse effects. Diabetes, Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension), Asthma are examples of such conditions. Other contraindications of Aten D have been discussed in the sections ahead.

Interaction between Alcohol and Aten D
Consult your doctor before consuming alcohol while taking Aten D as it can have severe side effects.
Aten D contains atenolol which is presumed to work through multiple mechanisms. It reduces blood pressure and slows down the fast heartbeat by blocking the influx of calcium ions and binding to certain receptors (beta-adrenoceptors) in the smooth muscles of heart which prevent the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline that also contributes in decreasing myocardial (heart) oxygen demand.
Yes, Aten D may cause weight gain. It is a rare side effect of this drug. The exact cause of weight gain is not known. However, if you are experiencing rapid weight gain after taking this drug, then you are advised to discuss it with your doctor.
Take Aten D once or twice in a day or as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food because of the presence of food does not affect its absorption from the stomach. Precautions must be taken in a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, thyrotoxicosis, and improper liver or kidney function.
Yes, Aten D and amlodipine can be taken together only on your doctor's advice. Aten D give synergistic effect when taken along with amlodipine. However, if you feel any discomfort after taking this drug along with amlodipine then do not hesitate to inform your doctor.
Rarely, Aten D causes depression. However, the exact cause of depression is not known. If you experiencing insomnia, persistent feeling of sadness, loss of appetite, loss of interest in activities which are symptoms of depression then you are advised to discuss it with your doctor without any further delay.
