Aprazol works by blocking the action of an enzyme (H+/K+ATPase) in the cells (parietal) of the stomach which is responsible for acid production in the stomach. Due to blockage of this enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this helps to relieve the stomach from acidity, heartburn, GERD, stomach ulcer and other acidity related stomach problem.

Aprazol is a brand name of lansoprazole. It is a prescription medicine that belongs to the class of drug called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It is mainly used for the treatment of NSAIDs associated peptic ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GRED), Zollinger Ellison syndrome and other acidity related stomach problems. It is also used for the treatment of duodenal ulcer and heartburn.
Aprazol should be taken before a meal because the presence of food can affect the absorption of this drug from the stomach and its therapeutic benefit. Preferably it should be taken once a day in the morning before breakfast. However, some patient may need twice a day, in this case, 1 tablet should be taken in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening before the meal as directed by the doctor.
