Anglospas Information

Anglospas is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Injection, Tablet. Anglospas also has some secondary and off-label uses. These are listed below.

What is Anglospas

Anglospas is a brand name for a compound known as dicyclomine. It belongs to the class of compounds known as anticholinergics (a compound that blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the central and peripheral nervous system) and antispasmodics. It is available as a tablet, capsule, syrup and an injection. Anglospas is used for the treatment of functional bowel / irritable bowel syndrome. It also has some local anesthetic properties and is used in biliary, gastrointestinal and urinary tract spasms. It has a mild effect on glandular secretion and cardiovascular system.

Yes, Anglospas causes nausea and vomiting as side effects. Nausea and vomiting can be prevented and managed by trying deep breathing, trying wrist acupressure, being in well ventilated space, drinking more fluids, taking ginger, fennel or cloves, and trying aromatherapy.

Weight gain can be prevented or managed by eating a low carb, high protein diet, incorporating some sort of physical activity in the lifestyle like yoga, zumba, pilates, aerobics, etc., drinking plenty of water, ensuring that the bowel moment is clear, drinking green tea, trying intermittent fasting, cutting back on dairy, gluten and added sugar, taking probiotics, eating more fiber, lifting weights, and eating more vegetables and fruits.

Yes, Anglospas causes dry mouth as it is one of the side effects. It can be prevented or managed by drinking lot of water, eating sugar-free candies and gums, avoiding caffeine as it is dehydrating, breathing through the nose, using a humidifier, quitting smoking, using alcohol-free mouth wash, etc.
