Methylcobalamin is abundantly found in eggs, milk, curd, meat (chicken and fish). However, if your levels are very low you are recommended to take medicines as per doctors instructions.
Alphacobal is an active form of vitamin B12. It is available in the form of oral, parenteral, and sublingual (under the tongue) formulations. It is used to treat B12 deficiency, Alzheimer's disease, diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage due to diabetes), visual function, rheumatoid arthritis, Bell's Palsy (facial paralysis or temporary weakness of the facial muscles), sleep-wake rhythm (irregular sleeping pattern) disorder and neuropathic pain.
The Alphacobal is susceptible to breaking down in the presence of light and it also gets affected by the moisture. Therefore, it should be consumed as soon as the package is opened and must be protected from the light and moisture.
The general recommended an oral dose of the Alphacobal is 1500 µg daily, divided into three doses. It is also available in other forms such as injectibles.
