Yes, Mst is used to prevent and treat NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) induced stomach ulcers. It works by inhibiting gastric acid secretion. NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins which leads to diminishing bicarbonate and mucus (phlegm) secretion which contributes to ulceration. Mst has mucosal protective properties that protect the stomach tissues from the damage caused by the stomach acid through decreased acid secretion and mucosal protective action.
