No, Imix D is a prescription drug so do not take it without consulting a doctor. It can be harmful for the patient to take this medicine without a doctor's recommendation because it can cause bacterial resistance and unpleasant side effects. Hence, the patient should seek doctors advice before taking this medication by himself or herself.
Imix D is bacteriostatic at the therapeutic dose that means it inhibits the growth of the bacteria but it can be bactericidal at higher doses. It works by inhibiting the protein synthesis in bacteria which it needs to survive. In the absence of protein synthesis, the bacterial growth is stunned and slowed.
Rarely, Imix D causes nausea and vomiting. It is a known side effect of this drug. For relief from nausea and vomiting try to take lime water, avoid eating spicy food even if it persists or becomes severe then discuss with your doctor.
Discontinuing Imix D on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and infection relapse. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor if you have decided to discontinue this medicine.
No, Imix D does not cover Enterococcus faecalis. They are generally found to be resistant to Imix D. However antibiotic sensitivity test is recommended to confirm its resistance.
