Freedom contains clobetasol which is presumed to work by promoting the induction of inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) in the body. Lipocortins prevents the release of arachidonic acid which causes synthesis and release of certain chemicals such as histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins that causes inflammation. In this way Freedom prevents the skin inflammation which provides relief to the patient from rash, itching, and redness.
No, Freedom alone should not be used for jock itch also known as tinea cruris because it is a fungal infection and Freedom is not an antifungal agent and it is not effective against fungi. Hence Freedom should not be used for the treatment of jock itch. For the treatment of jock itch, you can use a combination of Freedom and antifungal drugs such as miconazole and fluconazole.
