Betatrop contains atenolol which is presumed to work through multiple mechanisms. It reduces blood pressure and slows down the fast heartbeat by blocking the influx of calcium ions and binding to certain receptors (beta-adrenoceptors) in the smooth muscles of heart which prevent the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline that also contributes in decreasing myocardial (heart) oxygen demand.

How to take Betatrop?

Take Betatrop once or twice in a day or as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food because of the presence of food does not affect its absorption from the stomach. Precautions must be taken in a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, thyrotoxicosis, and improper liver or kidney function.
