Zithrox LX is a brand name for azithromycin. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of medication called macrolide antibiotic. It is used to treat a bacterial infection such as throat infection, respiratory tract infections, ear infections, and certain sexually transmitted diseases. It is also sometimes coupled with other antibiotics and medications to effectively treat infections such as Mycobacterium avium complex infection.
Zithrox LX is used to treat a number of bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract infection, sexually transmitted disease (STD), pneumonia, bronchitis, ear infection, Lyme disease, Mycobacterium Avium Bacteria Infection, whooping cough, sinuses, skin, throat, and infections of the lungs. It will not work for viral infection and other pathogenic infections such as cold, flu.
Discontinuing Zithrox LX on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and may cause a relapse of the infection. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor before discounting this drug.
No harmful interactions are found between Zithrox LX and alcohol, it does not reduce the effectiveness of the drug.
