Zedocef AZ is a brand name for cefpodoxime. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of medication called cephalosporins. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic, used for treating bacterial infections, such as bronchitis, gonorrhea, respiratory, ear, throat, and urinary tract infection.
Rarely Zedocef AZ can cause neurotoxicity. It is a reversible side effect of this drug, the symptoms caused due to drug-induced neurotoxicity often disappear after this drug is stopped. However, if you experience convulsions, agitation, weakness and severe nausea do not hesitate to inform your doctor without any further delay.
Zedocef AZ should be ideally taken with food(a light meal). Take this medicine in the required quantity and duration as prescribed by your doctor. Discontinuing the medicine in between may promote bacterial resistance which results in a relapse of the infection. You are recommended to complete the 7 - 14 days course even after getting symptomatic relief.
