Xpreza is a medication used primarily in the management of blood disorders such as myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). It contains Azacitidine, a chemotherapy agent that works by interfering with the growth of abnormal cells in the bone marrow, allowing normal blood cell production. Azacitidine belongs to a class of drugs called antimetabolites. It incorporates into the DNA and RNA of abnormal cells, inhibiting their replication and promoting the restoration of normal bone marrow function.
Route of Administration: Subcutaneous or intravenous injection.
Dosage: The usual starting dose is 75 mg/m² body surface area, administered daily for 7 days. The exact dosage and treatment cycle depend on the patient's condition and response.
Preparation: The powder is reconstituted with sterile water for injection as per the manufacturer's instructions.
