Valparex works by relaxing the muscles of the body and suppressing abnormal activity of nerve cells in the brain through an increase in activity of a chemical messenger known as GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) by inhibiting the enzymes which are responsible for the catabolism of GABA.
