Sycodep is a brand name of diazepam. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drugs known as benzodiazepine (Hypnotics & Sedatives). It is used to provide relief to the patient from anxiety, insomnia associated with anxiety, muscle spasms, seizures. It is also used to treat irritable bowel syndrome, panic attacks, a sedative for minor surgery and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal.
Sycodep works by suppressing abnormal activity of nerve cells in the brain through the increase in activity of a chemical messenger known as GABA. This calms the brain and provides relief to the patient.
Ideally Sycodep can be taken with food or without food post evening because its absorption is not affected by food. However, you are recommended to take it as per a doctor's instructions.
