Interaction between Alcohol and Depsol Forte
Consuming Depsol Forte with alcohol can have many serious effects on your body.
Ideally Depsol Forte can be taken with food or without food post evening because its absorption is not affected by food. However, you are recommended to take it as per a doctor's instructions.
Depsol Forte works by suppressing abnormal activity of nerve cells in the brain through the increase in activity of a chemical messenger known as GABA. This calms the brain and provides relief to the patient.
Depsol Forte is a brand name of diazepam. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drugs known as benzodiazepine (Hypnotics & Sedatives). It is used to provide relief to the patient from anxiety, insomnia associated with anxiety, muscle spasms, seizures. It is also used to treat irritable bowel syndrome, panic attacks, a sedative for minor surgery and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal.
Depsol Forte comes as a tablet, extended-release (long-acting) capsule, and concentrate (liquid), it should be taken by mouth. It is usually taken 1 to 4 times in a day or as advised by your doctor. Precautions must be taken in patients with chronic pulmonary insufficiency, personality disorders, muscle weakness, impaired liver or kidney function. Do not drive any vehicle or operate machinery after taking this medicine as it can cause drowsiness or sedation.
Take Depsol Forte as advised by your doctor. Do not take it longer than prescribed. Initially, a doctor prescribes this drug for a shorter duration and recommends his/her patient to follow- up/ re-visit to check for results. Taking this medicine longer than prescribed can lead to addiction because this is a habit-forming drug which can lead to drug dependency in patients.
