Yes, Oset is safe to be used in children from 6 months to 12 years of age. Apart from preventing nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy and radiation, Oset can be used in this population group for managing acute gastritis. Acute gastritis presents itself as a self-limited infection with vomiting leading to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Always check with a child specialist and do not administer this drug yourself.
Yes, Oset may cause drowsiness because this drug has been reported to induce sleep. Ensure you do not drive or do some high precision work. To avoid excessive drowsiness with this medicine you are encouraged to take adequate night-time sleep, keeping distractions out of the bedroom, going to sleep and getting up at consistent times, eating light at lunchtime, putting in some form of a physical activity, avoiding taking naps during the day, and avoiding alcohol at night.
It is not recommended that you discontinue taking Oset on your own. Discontinuing Oset may lead to unwanted side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy such as excessive vomiting. You must speak to your doctor first as this will help you to take an informed decision.
Yes, Oset can be taken with pantoprazole as there are no records of any drug interaction. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor which is used for treating acidity. Acidity can be managed by avoiding eating acidic and spicy foods, avoiding smoking, and avoiding sleep within 3 hours of taking meals.
Oset is available in form of tablet, syrup, and injection. It should be taken as per your doctor's instructions. Ideally, Oset has to be taken with food to avoid stomach upset. The initial dose is usually taken half an hour before chemotherapy, 1 to 2 hours before radiation therapy and 1 hour before a surgery. Additional doses can be suggested by the doctor as per the individual requirements.
