Moxtif Information

Moxtif is a prescription medicine that is available as a Drops. Primarily, it is used for the treatment of Bacterial Infections. Moxtif also has some secondary and off-label uses. These are listed below.

The right dosage of Moxtif depends on the age, gender, and medical history of the patient. Dosage also depends on the route of administration and your chief complaint for which the drug is prescribed. Refer to the dosage section for a detailed discussion.

The side effects typically associated with Moxtif include Nausea or vomiting, Diarrhoea. Apart from the aforementioned side effects, Moxtif can also lead to other problems, which have been listed below. Moxtif contains moxifloxacin (a broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the class of drugs known as fluoroquinolones). It works by inhibiting enzymes (topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase) in bacteria which prevents the DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination that is essential for the survival of the susceptible organism. In this way Moxtif is effective against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria such as Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Moraxella catarrhalis.
