Folistar is a prescription drug, available for use as Capsule. Primarily, it is used for the treatment of Megaloblastic Anemia, Nutritional Deficiency. Other than this, Folistar has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.
The optimal dosage of Folistar is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. Dosage also depends on the route of administration and your chief complaint for which the drug is prescribed. This information has been provided in detail in the dosage section.

Interaction between Alcohol and Folistar
No research has been done on this till date. Therefore, it is not known what the effect of taking Folistar with alcohol will be.
Folate is required by the human body for the synthesis, repair, and methylation of DNA. It also acts as a cofactor for various biological processes. Folate plays an important role during cell division and is required during infancy and pregnancy. Folate is required for the synthesis of healthy red blood cells. Deficiency of folate can affect all these roles and can cause anemia thus Folistar fulfills this deficiency and prevents from anemia.
Neural tube defects are the serious congenital defects that manifest when the neural tube of a baby is not able to close properly in the early weeks of pregnancy. This can lead to spinal and brain defects.
Folistar should not be discontinued on your own. Your doctor may want to check your recent levels of folic acid with the help of blood tests. If the reports are satisfactory then your doctor will ask you to discontinue Folistar.
Self-medication can be dangerous to health, therefore, one should take Folistar after consulting a doctor.
Folistar can be safely taken through the oral route or injectible. The drug is safe when taken in doses less than 1000 micrograms per day. You are advised to take Folistar as per your doctor's instructions. Do not take it in more than the prescribed doses.
