Flolite might be given for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). The exact mechanism of how it works in erectile dysfunction is not known but It is presumed that it works by improving libido, erection, and overall sexual function.
Flolite is available as a capsule and tablet to be taken by mouth in an empty stomach because food can delay the absorption of this drug and also decrease its bioavailability. Precaution must be taken in the patient with prostate cancer, sulfa allergy, and Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome.
Flolite blocks receptors in the prostate, prostatic capsule, prostate urethra, and bladder neck. When these receptors are blocked, smooth muscle relaxation occurs in the bladder neck and prostate, decreasing the urinary outflow resistance in men.
Yes, Flolite may cause an allergic reaction causing hives, rash, and itching. It may also cause swelling of the eyes, tongue, lips, arms, ankles, throat, feet and lower legs. Rarely, Flolite causes a persistent painful penile erection which is not related to an intercourse. This condition is known as priapism.
