No, Esfany is not an antipsychotic drug. It contains escitalopram which belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is used for the treatment of depression (major depressive disorder) and anxiety (generalized anxiety disorder). It is also used in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and panic disorder with or without agoraphobia.
Yes, Esfany causes dry mouth because it decreases the saliva secretion in your mouth. It is a common side effect of this drug. If you experience severe dry mouth after taking this drug, keep yourself hydrated with juices, shakes and ample water.
For treatment of anxiety Esfany is usually given upto 8 weeks and for the treatment of depression, the duration of treatment may vary depending upon the severity of depression.
