Dacmed, containing Dacarbazine, is a chemotherapy agent used in the treatment of various cancers, including malignant melanoma and Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is classified as an alkylating agent that interferes with the growth of cancer cells by damaging their DNA.

Dacarbazine is metabolized in the liver to its active form, which functions as an alkylating agent. It attaches to the DNA strands in cancer cells, causing breaks and disrupting replication, ultimately leading to cell death.

Side Effects

• Myelosuppression (low blood cell counts)

Dosage and Administration

Formulation: Injectable (intravenous use)

Dosage Guidelines:

• For melanoma: 2-4.5 mg/kg/day IV for 10 days, repeated every 4 weeks, or 250 mg/m²/day IV for 5 days every 3 weeks.

• For Hodgkin's lymphoma: 150 mg/m²/day IV for 5 days every 4 weeks, or a single dose of 375 mg/m² every 15 days (in combination therapy).
