Clinical studies have found that it can reduce the physical withdrawal symptoms but it is ineffective in preventing the seizures due to alcohol withdrawal also it is not approved and preferred. Since it is a prescription drug, you are advised not to take this drug by yourself for alcohol withdrawal.
No, Ciplar should not be discontinued without doctors advice even when you start feeling well because discontinuing of this drug on your own might worsen your current medical condition. Hence you are advised to always consult a doctor before discontinuing this medicine.
