Mechanism of Action

Megestrol acetate works by inhibiting the release of gonadotropins from the pituitary gland, resulting in decreased estrogen production, which is beneficial in hormone-sensitive cancers. Additionally, it has appetite-stimulating properties.

Dosage and Administration

Breast Cancer and Endometrial Cancer:

• Recommended dose: 40 to 320 mg/day orally, divided into several doses.

Anorexia, Cachexia, or Weight Loss:

• Recommended dose: 400 to 800 mg/day orally.

• Administration: Take Caxfila OS with or without food as directed by a healthcare provider.

Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember unless it is close to the next scheduled dose.

Overdose: In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Precautions

Contraindications
