Aten Am is a prescription drug, available for use as Tablet. It is primarily used for the treatment of High BP, Angina.

No, Aten AM should not be discontinued on your own. Discontinuation of a drug on your own can cause some serious problem such as blood pressure or chest pain which lead to heart attack and stroke. So before stopping this medicine, you must consult your doctor, he/she may switch your treatment if you can not tolerate this drug.
Yes, Aten AM can cause edema. It is the most common side effects of this drug. Usually swelling occurs in feet and ankle. If these effects cause troublesome, then consult your doctor regarding whether this effect arises due to amlodipine consumption or not. If yes, then you can stop taking this medicine with the help of doctor because of alternate treatment are also available. However, it is dose-related effects if taken a low dose, chances of edema are very less if consuming high dose the chances of edema are high.
Yes, Aten AM is safe to use, if taken in a prescribed amount for a specified time as advised by the doctor. However, few side effects are observed at regular doses such as palpitation, abdominal pain, sleepiness, swelling, and flushing.
