No, Acirax does not prevent chickenpox. Clinical studies suggest that Acirax alone cannot prevent chickenpox caused by varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in immunocompromised patients (weak immune system) but Acirax can successfully treat chickenpox with the combination of other antiviral drugs.
No, Acirax does not prevent the transmission of herpes simplex virus type-2 (HSV-2) in patients who are immunocompromised (weak immune system). Clinical studies have shown that it is not effective in preventing the transmission of herpes. Hence, you are recommended to use barrier methods such as a condom during intercourse to prevent the transmission of herpes.
Acirax should be taken by mouth 1 - 2 times in a day or as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food but it is preferred to take with a meal to avoid stomach upset. The topical cream should be applied gently on the affected area 5 - 6 times in a day or as advised by your doctor. After applying Acirax , gently rub the cream till fully absorbed, then wash your hands. Precautions must be taken in patients with neurological abnormalities, and improper liver or kidney function.
Rarely, Acirax causes fatigue. It is a known side effect of this drug. However, the exact cause of fatigue is not known. If you experience tiredness after taking this drug, then try to take some rest even after that if you feel excessive tiredness then do discuss it with your doctor.
Take Acirax as directed by your doctor. Do not take this medicine longer than prescribed to avoid unpleasant side effects.
