Spasdic is a carboxylic acid derivative with antispasmodic and anticholinergic activity. Spasdic stops acetylcholine from binding to the muscarinic receptors on the smooth muscles, leading to the relaxation of smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, and regulating bronchial, tracheal and pharyngeal secretions.
Spasdic is a brand name for a compound known as dicyclomine. It belongs to the class of compounds known as anticholinergics (a compound that blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the central and peripheral nervous system) and antispasmodics.
