Letrovin, containing the active ingredient Letrozole, is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It works by decreasing estrogen levels, which helps slow or reverse the growth of estrogen-sensitive tumors.
Adjuvant Treatment of Breast Cancer: Early-stage hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
Extended Adjuvant Treatment: After standard tamoxifen therapy.
Advanced Breast Cancer: First-line treatment for hormone receptor-positive or unknown metastatic breast cancer.
Letrozole inhibits the enzyme aromatase, responsible for converting androgens into estrogens. By lowering estrogen levels, it helps reduce the growth of estrogen-dependent cancer cells.
Standard Dosage: 2.5 mg orally once daily, with or without food.
Treatment duration depends on the individual’s response and clinical condition, often continuing until disease progression.
Common side effects:
Hot flashes
Fatigue

Serious side effects:

Bone fractures
Elevated cholesterol levels
Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.

Not recommended for premenopausal women or during pregnancy.
Onset: Letrozole begins to lower estrogen levels within hours but clinical benefits may take weeks to become evident.
